Willis, Sarah

Américaine (double nationalité anglaise). Née à Bethesda (Maryland), elle vit à Tokyo, Boston, Moscou et Londres (à partir de 13 ans) ! Elle a étudié le piano, puis à 14 ans le cor auprès d’un tromboniste. Après 3 ans à la Guildhall School de Londres, elle se fixe à Berlin et se perfectionne auprès de Fergus McWilliam (1991). Elle a joué à l’Opéra de Berlin (1999-2001) avant d’être engagée au Berlin Philharmonic (à partir du 1er sept 2001). Elle participe au YouTube Symphony Orchestra (2011, avec Mary Bowden, tp) et anime le TV show Sarah’s Prelude & Food. Elle joue le cor Alexander modèle 103. Sarah Willis est la première femme engagée dans la section de cuivres du Berlin Philharmonic.
