Maury, Jacques-Hyppolyte

Français. Né à Saint-Mihiel (Meuse), décédé à Paris. Etudes : entre au CNSMP à 12 ans ; 1er accessit de cor (1846), 2ème prix de cor (1847), 1er prix de cor (1849). Expérience : Orch. Théâtre Lyrique, Opéra (Paris, 1855-80, cnt solo), sous-chef à la Garde Républicaine (et fgh solo : concert à l’Alhambra, Londres, 1870). Professeur : saxhorn aux classes militaires annexes au Conservatoire (1869, le saxh, 1869-70, le cnt), remplace Arban à la classe de cnt au CNSMP (période 1869-73), lui succède (du 1er mai 1874 au 1er oct 1880). Elèves : ‘Edouard’ Lachanaud (1874), Casimir Joussaud (1875), Léon Galipeau (1876), Gabriel Parès (1879), Henri Emile Jouchaux (1879), Georges Dervaux, Merri Franquin, Alexandre Petit. Aut.-comp. : 4 Concertinos pour cnt (1875-8). Serait mort dans une maison de fous (d’après Jules Rivière). Il a encouragé la carrière de musicienne de Mélanie ‘Mel’ Bonis (1858-1937).
