Ecossais. Né à Clydebank (près de Glasgow). Etudes : cnt (à 9 ans), Phillip McCann (Huddersfield Univ., 1985). Expérience : Clydebank Burgh Band (à 12 ans), Black Dyke Mills Band (2 ans ; tournée en Australie 1988), Leyland Band (1991, cnt solo), Quintessence Brass Ens. (membre fondateur en 1993), puis chef (à partir de 1998). Professeur : Royal Northern College (Manchester, à partir de fin 2001). A joué Yamaha.
